Amanda Sanchez loves animals and weather she combines both passions making her the worlds first pet weather forecaster.

Amanda is weekend weathercaster at News Channel 8.  She joined the team in 1998.

A Reno native, Amanda attended Bishop Manogue High School, the University of Nevada, Reno, and is currently taking classes from Mississippi State's Broadcast Meteorology School.

Amanda loves the weather and animals, and in her ideal world would end euthanization of all shelter animals.

Amanda also enjoys promoting organ donation awareness, which touches close to home with her. In 1996 she donated a kidney to her sister Hillary.

Amanda likes nothing more than spending time with her family and animals, who all have been rescued from local shelters.

You can catch Amanda's forecast on News Channel 8, weekends at 6:30 and 11:00 .

Feel free to email Amanda at petweather@yahoo.com

Channel 8 weather reporter Amanda Schieve uses her clout to save individual animals. The first television reporter to broadcast from the Humane Society shelter, she showcases both dogs and cats. Schieve features animals for Reno Police Animal Services, too. "Some people think I'm overboard," but this animal lover says "If I could save all the animals in the world, I would." Schieve hopes to expand coverage to include other animal shelters.
